<![CDATA[The Tribune-Democrat: Obituaries]]> (48)

FREAR[mdash] Margaret V., 82, Richland Township, a loving mom and grandmother. She peacefully passed away June 19, 2024, at the age of 82. Maggie was born on July 28, 1941, in Johnstown, Pa., to the late John and Nellie (Heller) Mihelcic. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Andrew Frear. Also preceded in death by her sisters and brothers, Judy (Frank) Lobodzinski, Jenny Cronkright, Andy Mihelcic and John (Carlene) Mihelcic. She is survived by her sister, Monica Gehl. She will be missed by her children, Andrew, and wife, Sherry Frear, and Theresa, and husband, Jason DeChicchis. Also adored by her grandchildren, who were her heart and light, Andrew Frear, Jessica Frear and Stone DeChicchis. Mags loved her career as a nurse and making a difference in other's lives. After obtaining her nursing degree from Conemaugh School of Nursing, she devoted nearly half a century of her life providing care as an emergency department and IV nurse. More than anything, Maggie adored her time spent with the grandkids. From soccer, baseball and cheerleading competitions to high-school graduations and award ceremonies, she was always their biggest fan and supporter. With her guidance, she watched on as all three grandchildren attended college. Her support continued as she traveled the country to visit Stone at Colorado School of Mines. When attending Jess' and Drew's graduations from Saint Mary's College and The University of Notre Dame, she would always visit one of her favorite places, The Grotto, to light a candle and say a prayer for those in need. Maggie could never resist a trip to Vegas, sitting on the beach with the family, or beating her grandkids in nightly "Jeopardy." Her love and care for others live on forever in those who miss her here. We hope to leave a footprint on this Earth that could even begin to compare to the one she leaves. We want to thank the staff at Forest Hills Personal Care Home who took such incredible care of her, as well as AseraCare Hospice for their comfort and care in her final days. From her granddaughter, Jess - "You were such a strong and independent woman and I always wanted to grow up and be just like you. I will miss your words, your smile, and the laughs we shared. Every time I watch 'Reba' or 'Everybody Loves Raymond,' I will wish I was still watching with you." From her grandson, Stone, - "I loved the way you always inspired and motivated us to pursue a higher education and encouraging our thirst for knowledge. I will miss breakfast conversations and blueberry pancakes we would have together. Dinner with the you and cousins is something that I will cherish and remember forever." From her grandson, Drew, - "Always my greatest supporter, you taught me life lessons that have shaped me into who I am today. Your care for others contributed to my decision to pursue medicine. As I continue my education and start my career, I know you and Grandpa will continue to watch and guide me from above. Not a day will go by that I will not miss your smile; I am blessed to be your grandson." Margaret was a devout Catholic, a faithful life member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Geistown. Her family will receive friends Sunday, June 23, from 2 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home of Windber, where vigil service will be held. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, June 24, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Geistown, with Father Balestino. Committal next to her husband at Richland Cemetery.
